Azerbaijani and Russian Officials Discuss Economic Cooperation

Moscow:Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev recently led a delegation to the Russian Federation, where he met with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk to discuss trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan-Russia trade relations. Topics included cooperation in industry, energy, agriculture, transport, and logistics. The meeting reviewed the implementation of agreements from the recent Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation held in Zangilan.

The meeting addressed measures to increase mutual trade turnover and enhance trade ties, underscoring the need for favorable conditions for businesses in both countries. Discussions also covered the development of transport links, freight transportation efficiency, and the North-South International Transport Corridor's potential.

Additionally, the operation and procedural improvement of border checkpoints were examined. Both sides expressed a commitment to continuing their joint efforts in areas of mutual interest and the importance of regular contacts between relevant state bodies for addressing bilateral cooperation issues.

Shahin Mustafayev also met with Russian Deputy Chairman Alexander Novak to discuss bilateral relations in economic and trade sectors, including industry, energy, and logistics. Meetings with Emin Agalarov and Alexey Repik, key figures in the Azerbaijan-Russia Business Councils, focused on enhancing economic, trade, and investment ties.
