ISTANBUL: In a significant development in regional diplomacy, Azerbaijani and Armenian Foreign Ministers, Jeyhun Bayramov and Ararat Mirzoyan, respectively, have recently concluded another round of discussions aimed at forging a Treaty on Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations, as part of a broader “3+3” regional consultative meeting held in Istanbul, Trkiye.

According to Trend News Agency, the negotiations took place on the sidelines of a larger gathering that included foreign ministers from Iran and Russia. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed through a post on its X page that both parties expressed a mutual commitment to intensify their efforts to finalize the peace agreement promptly. The discussions reportedly centered around the draft Agreement on Peace and Interstate Relations, indicating a forward momentum in the peace process between the two nations.

The “3+3” meeting, a diplomatic platform that also involves participation from neighboring countries, underscores the regiona
l interest in stabilizing the South Caucasus area, which has seen periodic tensions, especially between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

This recent meeting in Istanbul marks a continuation of the dialogue aimed at resolving long-standing issues following the historical conflicts over territories like Nagorno-Karabakh. The involvement of other regional powers highlights the complex interdependencies and the shared interest in achieving a sustainable peace in the region.
