Azerbaijani Banks Boost Investments in US Bonds by Over 1 Billion Manat

Baku: Azerbaijani banks have significantly increased their investments in US government bonds this year, with a rise of more than 1 billion manat.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, which cites the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, the securities portfolio of Azerbaijani banks saw a notable increase in the first half of the year.

The information reveals that by the end of 2024, the volume of the securities portfolio of banks increased by 6.2%, amounting to an additional 584 million manats. Despite the growth in total assets, the share of securities in assets saw a slight decrease from 17.7% to 17.5%.

During this period, banks’ investments in US government bonds rose by 1.13 billion manats, marking an 80.6% increase. Meanwhile, investments in securities issued by the Ministry of Finance decreased by 347 million manats, or 7.8%, over the past six months, amidst a reduction in mass issues by the ministry.
