Azerbaijani Businessman Released from Russian Prison Arrives in Baku Amid Expressions of Gratitude

Baku: Azerbaijani businessman and owner of the Alekseevsky market, Yusif Khalilov, who was arrested in Voronezh in August this year, has been released, APA reports. Khalilov, upon his release from prison, returned to Azerbaijan, marking a significant moment for his family and the Azerbaijani state.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Khalilov’s son, Simur Khalilov, expressed deep gratitude for the support of the Azerbaijani state during this challenging time. He highlighted the sense of unity and appreciation for the efforts made to secure his father’s freedom. Simur Khalilov stated, “This is a demonstration of unity. Today is a very joyful day for us. On behalf of myself and our family, I express my deep gratitude to the Azerbaijani state, which helped to free my father, and to everyone who suffered for this.”

Additionally, Simur Khalilov extended his gratitude to the Russian state, emphasizing his family’s connection to the country. He noted that Russia remains a significant part of their lives, as he was born and educated there, and they continue to reside there. Simur Khalilov acknowledged the opportunities provided by the Russian state for education and work.

In August, Yusif Khalilov, a prominent Azerbaijani businessman and owner of the Alekseevsky market, was detained in Voronezh, Russia.
