Dubai: Sameddin Asadov, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, met with Botond Szebeny, Secretary General of PostEurop, and Elena Fern¡ndez Rodrguez, Chairwoman of the PostEurop Board of Directors, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting was part of the 28th Universal Postal Congress, the highest decision-making body of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). The discussions underscored Azerbaijan’s intent to secure a position within the UPU’s Postal Operations Council and Administrative Council, receiving support from PostEurop officials for this bid.
The conversation focused on the significance of international cooperation in the postal sector, with an emphasis on innovative postal service approaches and digitalization opportunities. PostEurop representatives proposed the possibility of hosting the organization’s General Assembly in Azerbaijan next year, highlighting the strengthened ties between Azerbaijan and PostEurop.
