Brussels: An Azerbaijani delegation led by Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, attended an Iftar ceremony held in Brussels, Belgium.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the event was organized in honor of participants involved in the ‘2025 Year of the Islamic World’ initiative, under the patronage of His Majesty Philippe, King of the Belgians. The initiative is in partnership with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), the Baku International Multiculturalism Centre, the Caucasus Muslims Office, and the European Development and Research Academy (EDARA).
The ‘2025 Year of the Islamic World’ initiative aims to promote peaceful coexistence and highlight the rich history, diverse culture, and significant contributions of the Islamic world to contemporary society. Azerbaijani MPs Javanshir Pashazade and Gudrat Hasanguliyev, along with various religious leaders from Azerbaijan, also participated in the event.
Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade addressed the attendees, conveying greetings from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people in celebration of Ramadan. He emphasized the cultural significance of hosting an Iftar in Brussels, initiated by King Philippe, as a step towards strengthening international cultural and civilizational links.
He praised the declaration of 2025 as the “Year of the Islamic World” in Belgium and Europe, regarding it as an important historical event. He expressed his gratitude to King Philippe and the Belgian people on behalf of the Islamic world.
Sheikhulislam Pashazade highlighted Azerbaijan’s model of multiculturalism and its commitment to peaceful coexistence and tolerance. He underscored the importance Azerbaijan places on its relations with Europe and the European Union.
Additionally, he spoke about the reconstruction and restoration efforts in Azerbaijan’s liberated areas, focusing on the restoration of religious temples as part of the country’s broader reconstruction strategy. He invited participants to witness these efforts firsthand.
In closing, Sheikhulislam Pashazade expressed his appreciation to King Philippe for his efforts in fostering human brotherhood and solidarity, and for hosting the Iftar ceremony, extending thanks on behalf of Azerbaijani believers and the Islamic world.
