Baku: Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev attended the 23rd extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held on August 27 at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting's agenda included the election of a new Secretary General for the OIC, as well as discussions on issues concerning Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif. A decision was unanimously made to elect the former Foreign Minister of Mauritania, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, as the new Secretary General of the OIC.
