Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Discusses Chairmanship Priorities with CICA Secretary General


Baku: Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Kairat Sarybay, Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), to discuss Azerbaijan’s upcoming chairmanship of the organization and related priorities.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting focused on Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of CICA for the 2024-2026 term, covering the country’s strategic priorities, ongoing work, and future prospects within the organization. The discussion highlighted Azerbaijan’s extensive experience in multilateral diplomacy, noting its successful leadership roles in various international platforms.



Minister Bayramov emphasized Azerbaijan’s commitment to enhancing international cooperation and trust, particularly in areas such as education, climate change, youth engagement, media, and transportation. He acknowledged Kazakhstan’s foundational role in the development of CICA and stressed the importance of expanding the organization’s practical benefits and institutional development during Azerbaijan’s tenure.



Secretary General Sarybay expressed optimism about his comprehensive visit to Azerbaijan, which includes engagements with relevant institutions to gain insights on key issues pertinent to CICA. He noted that these meetings would be instrumental in clarifying Azerbaijan’s leadership priorities.



Both parties also exchanged views on other mutual interests, reinforcing their commitment to strengthening ties and fostering regional cooperation.
