BAKU — In the latest world chess rankings released by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) on September 1, 2024, Azerbaijani grandmaster Shahriyar Mammadyarov is ranked 17th with 2733 points, while fellow countryman Teymur Rajabov holds the 31st spot with 2700 points.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, The ranking update continues to list Norwegian chess icon Magnus Carlsen as the top-rated player globally, maintaining his long-standing dominance in the sport. The rankings are closely watched by chess enthusiasts and signify the competitive status of players in the international chess community.
