ABU DHABI: The Azerbaijani judo team has achieved a commendable fifth place at the Grand Prix tournament in Abu Dhabi, securing a total of four medals across various categories.
According to Trend News Agency, Zelim Tckaev led the Azerbaijani squad by winning gold in the 81 kg category. Usangi Kokauri contributed with a silver in the over 100 kg category, while both Murad Fatiyev and Acelya Toprak added bronze medals in the 90 kg and 57 kg categories respectively. This collective effort placed Azerbaijan fifth in the overall medal standings.
The tournament saw the Netherlands finishing at the top of the table, amassing a total of eight medals including two golds. France followed closely, securing second place with similar gold medal counts but fewer bronzes. Germany and the UAE both tied for third, each claiming two gold medals.
The upcoming final Grand Prix of the season is scheduled to be held in Tokyo on December 7-8, where teams from around the world will compete for the last titles of the year.
