Guayaquil: Azerbaijan's national judo team delivered an impressive performance at the World Championships Cadets Individuals 2026 held in Guayaquil, Ecuador. On the final day of individual bouts, Aykhan Hasanli (81kg) powered past rivals from Costa Rica, Kuwait, Colombia, Armenia, and Japan to reach the final, claiming a silver medal against Russia's Daniyal Biybolatov.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, earlier in the competition, Farid Rzazada secured a gold medal in the 50 kg weight category. The achievements of these young athletes propelled Azerbaijan to finish 4th in the boys' standings and 5th overall among 59 participating countries.
