Azerbaijani Judokas Secure 9 Medals at Prague Junior European Cup

Prague: The Prague Junior European Cup 2026 concluded with remarkable success for the Azerbaijan national judo team. The team showcased strong performances, securing a total of nine medals over the course of the competition.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, on the second day of the event, the Azerbaijani judokas added eight medals to their collection. Mehdi Abbasov, competing in the 81 kg category, and Ramazan Ahmadov in the +100 kg category, both emerged victorious with gold medals, overcoming all their opponents. Silver medals were clinched by Jeyhun Ibadli (81 kg), Janpolad Aliyev (100 kg), and Nargiz Ahmadova (48 kg). Additionally, Suleyman Shukurov (90 kg), Namazli (100 kg), and Khadija Gadasheva (57 kg) earned bronze medals for their commendable performances.

On the first day of the competition, Abil Yusubov added to the team's success with a silver medal in the 73 kg category. Overall, the Azerbaijani team concluded the Prague European Cup with a medal tally of 2 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze. Their performance secured them third place in the overall team standings among 33 countries and first place in the boys' competition.
