Geneva: Anar Aliyev, Azerbaijan's Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population, took part in the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, where he delivered a speech. The event was attended by government representatives and social partners from member states of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Anar Aliyev emphasized the importance of digital transformation and artificial intelligence as national priorities. He discussed recent social reforms, noting the digitalization of most labor and social services. The 'Labour and Employment' subsystem allows for electronic oversight and online management of 97 percent of employment contracts.

During his speech, Aliyev detailed the benefits and accomplishments of the DOST concept and mentioned that Azerbaijan has joined 60 ILO conventions, with plans to ratify four more. He highlighted recent amendments to labor legislation that align with international standards and mentioned Azerbaijan's role in hosting significant global events like COP29 in 2024 and the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) this year. These events underscore Azerbaijan's active participation in shaping the global agenda on climate, urbanization, and the future of work.

Aliyev also spoke about the successful implementation of two Decent Work Country Programmes between Azerbaijan and the ILO and announced a new programme for 2025-2029. He highlighted large-scale reconstruction efforts in liberated territories, focusing on providing decent housing, employment, and economic opportunities for returning residents.

On the sidelines of the session, Anar Aliyev met with ILO Director-General Gilbert Houngbo. They discussed effective cooperation, Azerbaijan's digital labor reforms, gender-related legislative changes, the ratification of new conventions, and future collaboration prospects.
