Geneva: Head of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel Arguj Kalantarli, attended high-level meetings and plenary sessions during the recent Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction session, organized by the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) from June 2-6.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Arguj Kalantarli met with Ms. Natalia Alonso Cano, Head of the Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia of the UNDRR. They discussed the implementation of the Political Declaration from the High-Level Review Conference of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, and explored ways to enhance international cooperation in emergency management.
Ms. Natalia Alonso Cano commended the collaborative efforts and expressed a keen interest in broadening the scope of cooperation with Azerbaijan. She emphasized the significance of joint projects, experience sharing, and institutional cooperation.
During the visit, Colonel Kalantarli also engaged with Permanent Representatives of various countries to the UN Office in Geneva and other international organizations. Discussions focused on strengthening partnerships in joint activities and emergency management with international bodies, including the International Civil Protection Organization.
