Baku: The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, met with kos Kozma, the newly elected Judge of the Hungarian Constitutional Court, to discuss potential avenues for cooperation.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Ombudsman Aliyeva extended her congratulations to Judge Kozma on his new role, expressing hopes for his success in future judicial endeavors. She underscored the strong relationship between Azerbaijan and Hungary, emphasizing the shared values and collaborative spirit of both nations.

During the meeting, Aliyeva outlined her responsibilities in safeguarding human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan. She elaborated on the expanded powers conferred upon her office by the Constitutional Law and highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the Azerbaijani Ombudsman and the Constitutional Court.

A focal point of their discussion was the issue of Armenia’s policy towards Azerbaijan, specifically the plight of nearly 4,000 Azerbaijanis who went missing during the First Karabakh War. Aliyeva also informed Judge Kozma about the challenges posed by mine terrorism in the liberated Azerbaijani territories, which hampers reconstruction efforts, poses risks to civilian safety, and hinders the resettlement of displaced persons.

Judge kos Kozma expressed his gratitude for the reception and conveyed his interest in furthering dialogue on human rights issues. The meeting concluded with both officials exchanging perspectives on topics of shared interest, laying the groundwork for future cooperation.
