Azerbaijani Ombudsman’s Office Launches Public Survey on Disability Rights

Baku: The Ombudsman of Azerbaijan has initiated a public survey aimed at evaluating the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the country. This effort underscores the Ombudsman's commitment to ensuring equal rights and opportunities for PWDs, enhancing their social protection, promoting their integration into society, and preventing discrimination against them.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Ombudsman plays a crucial role in fulfilling the obligations of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and adhering to the recommendations of the relevant Committee. Acting as an independent mechanism, the Ombudsman is responsible for promoting, protecting, and monitoring the national implementation of the Convention.

The office continues to protect and promote the rights of PWDs through various measures. These include investigating incoming applications, responding to information requests, conducting monitoring visits, and performing analytical assessments. Additionally, the Ombudsman prepares opinions and recommendations and carries out activities to raise legal awareness, all aimed at advancing the rights of persons with disabilities.
