Baku: Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, met with the Director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, Zhuang Rongwen, to discuss the advancement of Azerbaijan-China relations into a strategic partnership. The meeting highlighted the critical role of both nations' presidents in nurturing relations based on friendship, mutual respect, and support. Discussions emphasized active political dialogue and bolstered collaboration in economy, trade, green energy, digital technologies, innovation, and artificial intelligence (AI).
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova introduced the Chinese official to Azerbaijan's digital transformation policy, 'Azerbaijan's New Digital Architecture,' championed by President Ilham Aliyev. The policy aims to strengthen infrastructure, broaden the digital economy, and implement innovative governance solutions. Discussions also focused on utilizing information technologies in parliamentary activities, cybersecurity cooperation, and accelerating AI application.
Zhuang Rongwen expressed China's commitment to fostering equal and mutually beneficial cooperation with Azerbaijan. He highlighted China's achievements in information technologies and expressed readiness to enhance cooperation in internet, cybersecurity, digital economy, and AI. Rongwen acknowledged Azerbaijan's progress, noting that over 90% of its population has internet access.
