Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker Engages in High-Level Talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister

Baku: As part of her official visit to Ethiopia, Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, met with the country's Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed Ali, on July 29.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting explored enhancing the Azerbaijan-Ethiopia friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation. The Ethiopian PM highlighted Azerbaijan's growing international authority over the recent years, noting that the country's progress under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev has earned praise across the international community.

Fondly recalling his meetings with the Azerbaijani President, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali noted that the discussions held during those meetings contributed to fostering bilateral relations, while the agreements achieved created a solid foundation for enhancing these ties. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali extended his warm regards to President Ilham Aliyev.

The Ethiopian PM expressed his country's interest to expand the economic collaboration with Azerbaijan, particularly stressing the importance of implementing joint projects in the oil and gas industry. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the existing favorable opportunities for enhancing bilateral relations across new avenues, while emphasizing the crucial role of sincere relations between both countries' leaders and existing high-level contacts in expanding bilateral cooperation.

The Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker briefed the Ethiopian PM on Azerbaijan's ongoing large-scale restoration efforts in its liberated territories implemented at its own expense. They also noted that the interparliamentary ties contribute significantly to boosting bilateral relations, expressing confidence for future successful development of these ties across various domains.
