Baku: Azerbaijani police have detained two individuals suspected of receiving a substantial quantity of drugs from Iranian nationals. During a recent operation conducted by the Main Directorate for Combating Drugs, authorities seized 10 kilograms of narcotic substances and 2,600 psychotropic pills, as reported by APA, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, officers from the Main Directorate for Combating Drugs are continuing their efforts to combat the illegal circulation of narcotics. In actions carried out in the Absheron and Garadagh districts, law enforcement officials apprehended Akbar Alizade, aged 23, and Rahib Mammadov, aged 36. The authorities discovered approximately 10 kilograms of marijuana with harmful additives and 2,600 methadone pills, classified as psychotropic substances, in their possession.

Investigations revealed that the suspects had established criminal connections with Iranian citizens, whose identities are currently under investigation. The detainees allegedly intended to distribute the drugs by placing them at predetermined locations for sale. In response to these activities, a criminal case has been initiated, and operational-investigative measures are ongoing.
