Azerbaijani President Emphasizes Balanced Social and Investment Policy

Baku: 'Our entire policy is both socially and investment-oriented. There must be a very delicate balance, an equilibrium between the two,' President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated during an interview with local television channels on January 5.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev highlighted that Azerbaijan has been directing revenues from economic reforms and oil and gas projects primarily into the social sector. The President noted that during the period of occupation, the country's primary expenses were focused on military needs, education, and supporting internally displaced persons. More than 300,000 internally displaced persons were provided with new homes, and over 100 settlements were established during this time.

President Aliyev further discussed efforts to eliminate past violations and injustices, and the implementation of a transparent mechanism that has facilitated major social reform initiatives. Over the past seven years, five social reform packages have been executed, impacting 4 million people and totaling approximately 8 billion manats.
