Shusha: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has addressed participants of the international conference on ‘The New World Order: Geopolitical Aspects and Global Challenges’. The event, held in Shusha, brought together global leaders and experts to discuss pressing issues in international relations.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev emphasized the complex geopolitical developments currently unfolding worldwide. He noted the emergence of new power centers and the transition to a new world order, highlighting the importance of safeguarding national interests, independence, and sovereignty. The President stressed the need for collective efforts toward peace, stability, and multilateral development amidst threats to national, regional, and global security.

President Aliyev recalled the historical context of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity issues, citing the nearly 30-year occupation of 20 percent of its land despite four UN Security Council resolutions. He credited Azerbaijan’s 44-day Patriotic War and a subsequent anti-terror operation for restoring the country’s full territorial integrity and sovereignty. He paid tribute to National Leader Heydar Aliyev for his role in rescuing Azerbaijan from crises and establishing the foundations of the national statehood ideology.

The President reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to a just world order and its proactive role in regional and international security. He highlighted Azerbaijan’s contributions to turning the South Caucasus and Eurasian regions into hubs of dialogue and cooperation through joint projects with friendly nations. Azerbaijan’s four-year chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement was noted for upholding the Bandung Principles and defending justice and international law.

President Aliyev concluded by underscoring the importance of forming a new geopolitical order based on political responsibility and cooperation. He expressed confidence in Azerbaijan’s continued independent policy and active participation in building a new world order for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development. The year 2025, marked as the ‘Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty,’ symbolizes Azerbaijan’s commitment to these goals.

The President extended his best wishes for the success of the conference, organized by the New Azerbaijan Party on Azerbaijan’s National Salvation Day, in fostering discussions on global issues and enhancing multifaceted relations between countries.
