KAZAN: President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan has arrived in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, to attend the 16th BRICS Summit in the outreach/BRICS Plus format. Invited by Russian President Vladimir Putin, President Aliyev’s visit underscores the growing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the BRICS nations.

According to Trend News Agency, President Aliyev’s plane was escorted by military helicopters as it landed at Kazan International Airport, highlighting the significance of his visit. Upon arrival, a ceremonial guard of honor was arranged in recognition of the Azerbaijani President. Rustam Minnikhanov, the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, officially welcomed President Aliyev at the airport. The summit is expected to foster discussions on key international issues and strengthen economic partnerships within the BRICS framework.
