Baku: Members of the Board of the Azerbaijani Press Council have visited the Turkish Embassy in Baku, the Council told APA. During the meeting, held in connection with National Salvation Day on June 15 and the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press, Turkish Ambassador Birol Akgn extended his sincere congratulations and highlighted the historical significance of the 2021 Shusha Declaration signed between Trkiye and Azerbaijan.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ambassador Akgn also shared future plans to deepen media cooperation between the two countries. Press Council Chairman Rashad Majid thanked Ambassador Akgn for the warm reception and expressed confidence that the meeting would foster valuable exchanges of opinion. The Chairman spoke about the role of National Salvation Day in the fate of the Azerbaijani people and emphasized the importance of the Shusha Declaration as a landmark document that outlines a roadmap for the coming decades. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening media solidarity between Azerbaijan and Trkiye.
Members of the Council’s Board of Directors shared their views and raised questions regarding specific aspects of the media agenda in Azerbaijan and Trkiye. Particular emphasis was placed on the inadmissibility of articles published in some Turkish media outlets that undermine the trust between the two brotherly countries, highlighting the necessity of joint efforts to combat such incidents. The meeting also discussed prospects for cooperation, including ways to further strengthen information exchange and planned future activities in this direction.
