Baku: An individual suspected of engaging in terrorism has been apprehended and transported back to Azerbaijan for legal proceedings. The arrest and subsequent trial of Najimov Ruslan Rafiq oglu took place at the Sabail District Court in Baku, where the court decided on a four-month detention as a preventive measure. The arrest follows a criminal investigation led by the State Security Service (STS).
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ruslan Rafig Najimov, a citizen of Azerbaijan born on June 8, 1987, is suspected of participating in terrorist activities as part of a stable armed group. Investigations revealed that Najimov attempted to evade capture by using different identities while residing in various foreign countries.
The State Security Service undertook complex operational-search measures, leading to Najimov’s detention abroad. He was subsequently brought back to Azerbaijan on April 15, 2025, to face charges and participate in the ongoing investigation. The court, based on the investigator’s motion and the prosecutor’s presentation, decided to detain Najimov for a period of four months.
