Baku: The concept of “Azerbaijani sign language” is being incorporated into legislation, as reflected in the proposed amendments to the “Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.” This development was discussed at the meeting of the Labor and Social Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the draft defines Azerbaijani sign language as a means of expressing thoughts by Azerbaijani-speaking individuals with complete hearing impairment, using their arms, hands, and fingers simultaneously. The inclusion of this concept in the legislation aims to address the communication needs of individuals with hearing impairments in Azerbaijan.
