Fyodor Shchukin, the acting head of the Republic of Dagestan, signed the decree to honor the legendary artist by naming the Azerbaijan State Musical Drama Theater after him.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Azerbaijan State Drama Theater in Derbent boasts a rich history, having been established in the late 19th century. It received its official status in 1904 and was later granted state status in 1934. The theater has long been a platform for Azerbaijani classics and began a significant reconstruction in 2015, following an order from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In March 2026, the theater's historic building was officially reopened, marking a significant milestone with Russian President Vladimir Putin participating via video conference. The extensive renovation equipped the theater with a modern stage, advanced lighting and sound systems, comfortable dressing rooms, and a spacious auditorium, thus enhancing its facilities to host a variety of performances.
