Tirana: Azerbaijani freestyle wrestlers have secured five more medals at the European Championships in Tirana, the capital of Albania, APA reports. On the final day of the competition, Ali Tsokayev (92 kg) and Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) were crowned European champions. Turan Bayramov (74 kg) and Arseniy Dzhioev (86 kg) finished with silver medals after defeats in their respective finals. Meanwhile, Nuraddin Novruzov (61 kg) finished in 5th place after losing his bronze-medal bout.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the freestyle wrestling team completed the European Championships with a total of six medals. Earlier in the tournament, Islam Bazarganov (57 kg) won gold, while Dzhabrail Gadzhiev (79 kg) earned a bronze. In the Greco-Roman wrestling category, Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg) and Gurban Gurbanov (82 kg) also became European champions, while Rashad Mammadov (55 kg), Nihat Mammadli (60 kg), and Islam Abbasov (87 kg) secured bronze medals.
In the women's wrestling events, Jala Aliyeva (57 kg) and Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg) both claimed bronze medals. The achievements of Azerbaijani wrestlers in various categories highlight their strong presence and competitive edge at the European Championships.
