Baku: Azerbaijani wrestlers made a strong start at the U20 World Wrestling Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia, securing two medals in Greco-Roman wrestling. According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Tural Ahmadov competing in the 63kg category earned a bronze medal. Ahmadov displayed dominance with an 8:0 win in the consolation match and clinched victory with a narrow 2:1 win over Ecuador's Clisman Veliz. Meanwhile, Javidan Nehmetov, wrestling in the 77kg category, captured a silver medal after a close contest. Nehmetov faced Armenia's Samvel Terteryan in the final, which ended in a 1:1 tie and was decided on the first-point principle, resulting in Nehmetov's silver medal achievement.
