Azerbaijan’s Air Transportation Sees Significant Growth in Passengers and Freight

Baku: Azerbaijan’s air transportation sector witnessed notable growth in both passenger and freight services in the first two months of this year. More than 581,400 passengers were transported by air in January and February, reflecting a 17.8% increase, APA-Economics reports citing the monthly report of the State Statistical Committee.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, an overwhelming majority of these passengers, approximately 99.9%, traveled using vehicles operated by state-owned enterprises, while a mere 0.1% utilized vehicles belonging to private enterprises. The report also highlighted a 4.9% increase in freight transportation during the same period, with volumes reaching 66,200 tons.

The data underscores Azerbaijan’s expanding air transportation capabilities, which are largely dominated by state enterprises. The increase in both passenger numbers and freight tonnage indicates a strengthening of the country’s logistical and transport infrastructure.
