Azerbaijan’s ANAMA Clears Hundreds of Mines and UXOs from Liberated Territories


Baku: Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) has successfully cleared a significant number of landmines and unexploded ordnances (UXOs) from several liberated territories, as part of their operations conducted between October 14 and October 20, 2024.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, ANAMA reported the discovery and clearance of 200 anti-personnel mines, 49 anti-tank mines, and 763 UXOs across the regions of Tartar, Aghdam, Aghdara, Lachin, Fuzuli, Shusha, Khojaly, Kalbajar, Khankandi, Gubadli, Khojavand, Jabrayil, and Zangilan. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to secure areas previously affected by conflict, making them safe for resettlement and development.

The agency also highlighted that a total of 470.2 hectares of land were cleared during this period, marking significant progress in the restoration and rehabilitation of war-torn areas. The clearance of mines and UXOs is crucial for the safety of returning residents and the resumption of normal life in these regions.
