Azerbaijan’s Baku Initiative Group Demands Release of Activist Kemi Seba

BAKU: The Baku Initiative Group has issued a strong condemnation of the arrest of Kemi Seba, a prominent political activist and advocate for the rights of African peoples, by French authorities. The group has labeled the detention as illegal and an affront to human rights.

According to Trend News Agency, the Baku Initiative Group described the arrest as a clear violation of personal freedoms and an act of neocolonial pressure. The group asserts that Kemi Seba’s detention is a direct result of his efforts to combat neocolonialism and promote the sovereignty and independence of African nations. “Kemi Seba is a significant figure who has dedicated many years to fighting against neocolonial policies and advocating for Africa’s independence. His detention is not only a violation of freedom of expression and political activity but also a reflection of France’s attempt to maintain its influence in Africa through illegitimate means,” the statement explained.

The organization further criticized the French state for
maintaining what it perceives as a colonial mentality, attempting to preserve hegemony over African affairs. The Baku Initiative Group has called on international bodies, human rights defenders, and the global community to join in condemning this act and to demand the immediate and unconditional release of Kemi Seba.

Emphasizing the importance of respecting fundamental human rights, such as the freedom of movement, the group declared, “The right of African peoples to determine their future freely and fairly must be ensured, and any interference in their sovereignty must be categorically rejected.”

The statement concluded with a call for global solidarity to support what they describe as a genuine decolonization process, highlighting the incident as a manifestation of France’s ongoing neocolonial policies in Africa.
