Baku: Azerbaijan’s Baku Olympic Stadium will be fully available for use starting November 4, according to member of the Coordination Council of the COP29 Operating Company, Ayan Najaf, as reported by Trend News Agency. This announcement was made during the signing ceremony of a memorandum between COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company and Green Energy Power Plant LLC.

According to Trend News Agency, Najaf stated that the stadium’s territory and temporary structures would be fully utilized from November 4. This date marks the beginning of the pre-session working group meetings for COP29, which will be hosted in Baku this November.

The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is an important event, decided at the COP28 plenary meeting in Dubai on December 11, last year. The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change was originally signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992, aiming to prevent dangerous human interference in the climate sys
tem.

The Conference of Parties, known as COP, is the highest legislative body responsible for the implementation of the Framework Convention. A total of 198 countries are parties to the Convention, and unless otherwise decided, the COP is held annually. The inaugural COP event took place in March 1995 in Berlin, with its secretariat based in Bonn.
