Azerbaijan’s Baku Slavic University Strengthens Educational Ties with Chinese Institutions

Baku: An Azerbaijani delegation led by Anar Naghiyev, Rector of the Baku Slavic University (BSU), visited China to explore and expand educational collaborations with prominent Chinese universities. The visit marked a significant step in fostering academic and cultural ties between Azerbaijan and China.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, discussions at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) centered on language teaching initiatives, with Azerbaijani being taught at BFSU and Chinese at BSU. The possibility of staff and student exchange programs was also a focal point of the meetings. Both sides acknowledged the elevation of bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, influenced by the strategic vision of President Ilham Aliyev and President Xi Jinping.

Vice President Zhao Gang of BFSU emphasized the increasing interest in the Chinese language within Azerbaijan and noted the ongoing cooperation with Azerbaijani institutions, including the ANAS and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Rector Anar Naghiyev highlighted BSU's ambitions to broaden its language offerings, particularly Chinese, and discussed potential collaborations in artificial intelligence, joint publications, and summer schools. Additionally, BSU received an invitation to join the Global Alliance of Foreign Languages Universities, as the delegation toured BFSU's Azerbaijani Language Department and research centers.

At Beijing Normal University, the focus of discussions was on cooperation in language teacher training, exchanges, summer schools, and joint research initiatives. The Azerbaijani delegation also visited the Digital Education Resources Center to explore further collaborative opportunities. Furthermore, the delegation's visit to Huzhou University resulted in the signing of an agreement to solidify their cooperative efforts.
