Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) met Wednesday with Ditmir Bushati, Head of the Election Observation Mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), who is visiting Azerbaijan to monitor the snap parliamentary elections in the country.
The CEC Chairman highlighted the activity of the commission, including the registration of the candidacies for the parliamentary seats, the pre-election campaign and other projects. Mazahir Panahov underscored that it would be the first time that the parliamentary elections would be conducted across the entire Azerbaijani territory following the snap presidential election held this year.
CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov noted that all the necessary conditions had been created for the members of the election observation missions to monitor the activity of the commission and all the related processes.
The CEC Chairman pointed out the pivotal role of the observation organizations in holding open and transp
arent elections, praising international observers’ great interest in the election held in Azerbaijan.
Ditmir Bushati noted that the OSCE/ODIHR would cooperate closely with CEC during their election observation mission in Azerbaijan.
