Azerbaijan’s Chess Teams Triumph in Third Round at 46th Chess Olympiad

Samarkand: Azerbaijan's men's and women's chess teams both secured victories in the third round of the 46th Chess Olympiad, held in Samarkand. The men's team emerged victorious against Switzerland with a score of 3-1, while the women's team outperformed Sweden with a score of 2.5-1.5. Notable wins for Azerbaijan came from Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Aydin Suleymanli, and Gunay Mammadova, as the remaining players drew their games.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, this win follows earlier triumphs where the men's team defeated Morocco 4-0 and the Philippines 3-1. Meanwhile, the women's team showcased their strength by conquering Guatemala and Denmark with a score of 4-0 in both matches.

The 46th Chess Olympiad, which operates under the Swiss system, features 11 rounds and will continue until September 27. The event includes 1,032 players representing 208 teams from around the world.
