Baku: In January of this year, Azerbaijan imported 1,437 tons of chocolate and chocolate products worth a total of $5.808 million from 28 countries.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Statistical Committee reported these figures highlighting significant changes in the import dynamics.

During this period, the largest volume of chocolate products was imported from Russia and Trkiye. Azerbaijan imported 676.67 tons of chocolate products worth $2.274 million from Russia in January, marking a decrease of 20.6% in value and 38.6% in volume compared to the same period last year. Imports from Trkiye also saw a decline, with a 40.1% decrease in value and a 47% decrease in volume year-on-year.

In a notable shift, Azerbaijan's chocolate imports from Belgium showed a substantial increase. In the reporting month, Azerbaijan imported 6.36 tons of chocolate and chocolate products worth $121,470 from Belgium. This represents nearly a 27.5-fold increase in value and a 13.5-fold increase in volume compared to January of the previous year.
