Azerbaijan’s Commitment to Climate Diplomacy Highlighted at UN Climate Week

Baku: Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the country's dedication to climate diplomacy during the opening ceremony of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Fourth Climate Week (CW4) in Baku. He stated that Azerbaijan is determined to show that traditional energy producers can lead the way toward a green and sustainable future, aligning with President Ilham Aliyev's strategic vision.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Minister Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan's commitment to international climate diplomacy, even beyond their COP presidency. He pointed to the 13th session of the World Urban Forum held in Baku in May, which focused on climate-resilient cities and sustainable urban development. The forum's outcomes contributed to the UN New Urban Agenda's midterm review in July.

Bayramov also noted Baku's role in hosting UN World Environment Day in June, further cementing its position in global environmental action. He emphasized the importance of informal diplomacy, mentioning the Shamakhi Meetings initiated in 2024, which aim to bring climate negotiators together to build trust and facilitate consensus on complex issues.
