Azerbaijan’s Customs Officers Seize Major Marijuana Haul in Iran-Russia Transit Truck

Astara: As a result of operational measures carried out by officers of the Astara Customs Administration, an especially large quantity of narcotics was once again detected and removed from illegal circulation, the State Customs Committee told APA. It was reported that a thorough customs inspection was conducted using a canine service dog on a vehicle transporting a cargo of 'lettuce' from Iran to Russia in transit through Azerbaijan. According to Azeri-Press News Agency, during the inspection, a particularly large amount of narcotics - marijuana - was discovered, which was hidden from customs control by being wrapped in a "lettuce" shape and weighing 79 kilograms 820 grams, including packaging. An investigation into the case is ongoing.
