Azerbaijan’s Deputy FM Advocates for Normalization Process at OIC Session

YAOUNDÉ - The 50th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers, which took place in Yaoundé on August 29-30, 2024, featured significant participation from Azerbaijan. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elnur Mammadov, represented Azerbaijan and addressed various issues pertinent to regional peace and cooperation.

According to Azeri-Press Agency, as reported by APA, Deputy Minister Mammadov detailed the ongoing normalization process after the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict and discussed challenges such as Armenia's landmine threats. He reiterated Azerbaijan's commitment to the peace initiatives it has proposed. Additionally, Mammadov announced that Azerbaijan will host the upcoming 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), marking it as an essential event for the global climate agenda. The session concluded with the adoption of four resolutions proposed by Azerbaijan, underscoring its active role in the OIC.
