“Raising the issue of returning to Western Azerbaijan namely at the present time contains the context of the new political reality that arose after the Patriotic War and is appropriate,” Azerbaijan’s Deputy FM Khalaf Khalafov at the public hearing of the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis on the topic “Crossing the mountains: a peaceful and legal return to West Azerbaijan”, APA reports.

According to him, this return is a dream and national goal of not only our compatriots expelled from Western Azerbaijan, but also the entire Azerbaijani people for many years: “Populism should not be allowed in this issue, this issue should be approached from national and state standpoint. Western Azerbaijan community has very great potential. This potential allows for the implementation of the Return Concept put forward by the President. The conception document was circulated as an official document in the UN by the Azerbaijani MFA’s permeant representation in the UN. The document reflects the restoration of the rights of our citizens who were forcibly expelled from their homelands.”
