Azerbaijan’s Former Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev Laid to Rest

Baku: Former Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev has passed away, APA reports. He was laid to rest at the “Gurd Gapisi” cemetery following a farewell ceremony at the Taza Pir Mosque.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ceremony was attended by Shiraliyev’s family members, relatives, and public representatives. Shiraliyev, who passed away in the Shuvalan settlement of the Khazar district, was born on August 2, 1950, in Baku into a family of doctors. He was appointed as Azerbaijan’s Minister of Health in 2005.

In recognition of his contributions to the healthcare sector, Shiraliyev was awarded the “Shohrat” Order on August 12, 2015. His tenure as Minister of Health ended on April 23, 2021, when he was dismissed from the position.
