Baku: A conference titled 'Azerbaijan as a Middle Power: Foreign Policy, Regional Influence and Global Participation' has been held, APA reports. The conference was dedicated to discussing Azerbaijan's growing role in the international relations system, its position as a 'middle power,' and the key factors shaping this status.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, representatives of state institutions, think tanks, higher education institutions, members of the Milli Majlis, experts, young researchers, and media representatives attended the event. Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Board of the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), highlighted the main purpose of the conference as discussing Azerbaijan's expanding role in the international system, presenting research findings, and exchanging views on new proposals.

Eldar Namazov, Director of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, noted that countries capable of exerting significant influence on regional and global processes play an important role in international relations. Fariz Ismayilzada, member of the Milli Majlis and Vice Rector of ADA University, emphasized Azerbaijan's strengthened role as a regional mediator, its involvement in international negotiations, peacekeeping missions, and humanitarian projects. He also mentioned Azerbaijan's vital contribution to energy security and transport corridors, serving as a bridge between Europe and Asia.

Farhad Mammadov, Director of the South Caucasus Research Center, remarked that powerful states do not always achieve their desired outcomes. He stated that the criteria defining the concept of a 'middle power' evolve over time and should be assessed considering the characteristics of the historical period.

The conference concluded with discussions and a question-and-answer session.
