Azerbaijan’s Horadiz-Aghband Railway Construction Advances Rapidly


BAKU: The construction of the Horadiz-Aghband railway in Azerbaijan is making swift progress, reported Rovshan Rustamov, Chairperson of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC. This development is part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing the country’s transportation infrastructure and connectivity with its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

According to Trend News Agency, comprehensive project documentation is being prepared for the reconstruction of the railway that is expected to connect Azerbaijan’s western regions with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The Horadiz-Aghband railway line spans 110.4 kilometers, extending to 140.6 kilometers with side tracks. The infrastructure includes eight stations, three tunnels, 47 bridges, five overpasses, seven road underpasses, galleries, and retaining walls.

Additionally, the project encompasses the design of 110.4 kilometers of power supply, communication, and signaling systems. Notably, the undertaking includes the construction of Azerbaijan’s longest railway bridge, meas
uring 771 meters, and a 1,072-meter tunnel. The railway is anticipated to significantly boost both domestic and international transportation capabilities by providing direct transport links with Nakhchivan.
