Azerbaijan’s Independence Day Celebrated with Official Reception in Geneva

Geneva: An official reception to commemorate May 28, Azerbaijan's Independence Day, was organized by the country's Permanent Mission to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva. The event gathered members of the diplomatic corps, employees of international organizations, Azerbaijanis residing in Switzerland, and various public representatives.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Ambassador Galib Israfilov, the Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the UN Office at Geneva, highlighted the historical significance of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) as the first democratic republic established in the Muslim East. He acknowledged the exceptional contributions of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in fortifying Azerbaijan's statehood and in the preservation and development of national identity during the early years of independence.

Ambassador Israfilov also noted the achievements under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, stating that Azerbaijan has successfully restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty. He added that extensive reconstruction and construction projects are currently progressing in the territories that have been liberated from occupation.

The event also featured a presentation of Azerbaijani national cuisine, offering guests a taste of the country's cultural heritage.
