Azerbaijan’s Letter on Khojaly Genocide Recognized as UN Document


New York: Azerbaijan’s letter to the United Nations regarding the 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly Genocide has been officially published as a document of the General Assembly and the Security Council. This communication, sent by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN, addresses the Secretary-General, highlighting the significance of the event, APA reports citing Azerbaijan’s Mission in the UN.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the letter emphasizes the systematic nature of the atrocities committed in Khojaly, underscoring that these were neither isolated nor random acts. Instead, they were part of a broader policy characterized by ethnic and religious intolerance. The letter insists on the necessity of holding accountable those responsible for such serious offenses, stressing that accountability is both imperative and unavoidable.
