Baku:A draft law titled "On the Agricultural Sector" has been prepared and was discussed in today's session of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis. The draft law comprises 7 chapters and 28 articles aimed at setting the foundations for state regulation and support in the agricultural sector.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the draft law is designed to ensure sustainable development, food security, and support rural areas by establishing conditions for the production and processing of agricultural products. It also aims to address climate change adaptation and promote efficient use of agricultural land.
The adoption of the new law "On the Agricultural Sector" will result in the repeal of existing laws such as "On Grain," "On Tea Growing," "On Cotton Growing," and "On Agricultural Cooperation," with relevant provisions being integrated into the new legislation. Other specific laws will remain in force and will be aligned with the new law under a "framework law - special laws" model. The draft was put to a vote and successfully adopted in the first reading.
