Specialist-expert of the Ministry of Health Zakir Guliyev has commented on the detection of new subtype of Omicron in some European countries, the Ministry told APA.

According to him, European virologists are concerned about the emergence of a new variant (BA.2.75) of the Omicron strain. The BA.2.75 variant is closely monitored by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and is currently under surveillance.

Speaking about infection cases observed in Azerbaijan, the expert noted that an increase is observed in the infection of coronavirus in comparison to the previous months.

He called on citizens to follow the rules of the special quarantine regime.
