Turkistan: An Azerbaijani delegation led by Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev arrived in Kazakhstan for an official visit. During the visit, Kamran Aliyev attended the 7th Meeting of the Attorneys/Prosecutors General of the ECO Member States, held in the Kazakh city of Turkistan. In his remarks, the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General stated that the digital transformation policy initiated by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and identified as one of the state's strategic priorities is currently being successfully continued under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the primary goals of the Digital Development Council of Azerbaijan, established in February 2026 and chaired by First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, are to strengthen the country's technological potential and digital sovereignty, as well as promote the transition to an innovation-based economic model. Kamran Aliyev highlighted the Electronic Prosecutor's Information System (EPIS), established pursuant to a Presidential order in 2021, as one of Azerbaijan's significant achievements in this field.
The Azerbaijani official also noted that EPIS currently operates through a range of modules, including digital document circulation, investigations, public prosecution, international legal cooperation, crime mapping, and electronic inquiry services. He added that several modules leverage artificial intelligence technologies, while the system itself is integrated into the Electronic Government Information System.
During the visit, the Prosecutor General also held a number of bilateral meetings with his foreign counterparts. At a meeting with an Iranian delegation, Prosecutor General of Iran Mohammad Movahedi-Azad expressed his special gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the humanitarian assistance provided by Azerbaijan amid recent developments in the region. The parties subsequently exchanged views on further developing cooperation between the two countries' prosecution authorities, expanding the exchange of professional experience and information, and ensuring more effective use of mutual legal assistance mechanisms.
They also emphasized the importance of strengthening stability and security in the region and intensifying joint efforts to combat terrorism, illicit drug trafficking, and other forms of transnational crime. During a bilateral meeting with a Pakistani delegation led by Barrister Umer Aslam Khan, Additional Attorney General-IV of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the parties discussed the high-level relations between the two countries, prospects for cooperation between law enforcement agencies, and continued mutual support within international organizations. The meeting also featured an exchange of views on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, extradition, combating the legalization of property obtained through criminal means, corruption-related crimes, and other issues of mutual interest.
