Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General holds meeting on COP29 in Vienna – PHOTO


During his working visit to Vienna, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev met with John Brandolino, Acting Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan told APA.

John Brandolino welcomed the delegation and spoke about the importance of hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Azerbaijan from November 11-22 this year. He highlighted the successful foreign policy and positive partnership environment in Azerbaijan, which have led to this significant event, and Azerbaijan’s contributions to addressing global environmental issues. Brandolino also congratulated the Prosecutor General on the upcoming 29th Conference of the International Association of Prosecutors in Baku, assuring that the UNODC will definitely participate in the event.

In the context of COP29, the organizational issues of a high-level event titled “Mobilizing Law Enforcement Agen
cies in the Fight Against Climate Change,” co-organized by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan and the UNODC under Azerbaijan’s chairmanship initiative, were discussed. They also exchanged views on cooperation in biodiversity protection, eliminating environmental crimes, and other matters of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister and Lead Negotiator for COP29, Yalchin Rafiyev, and Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Austria, Rovshan Sadigbayli.
