Baku: Azerbaijan's renewable energy share in power generation has risen to 36.5%, as reported by the Ministry of Energy to APA-Economics. The significant share of renewable energy was recorded from the total electricity generated in the country yesterday.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the nation produced a total of 64.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity on April 20. Of this, renewable energy sources contributed 23.5 million kilowatt-hours. The detailed breakdown reveals that 15.9 million kilowatt-hours were generated by hydropower plants, while solar and wind power plants produced 7.6 million kilowatt-hours.
The Ministry's statement further highlighted that wind and solar energy collectively accounted for 12% of the total electricity generation. This milestone underscores Azerbaijan's commitment to increasing its reliance on renewable energy sources in its power generation mix.
